With the advent of widely adopting solar energy systems, the barrier of entering the energy production market is more achievable than ever. Of course, this raises concerns among traditional grid energy providers, who use the existing power-grid networks to essentially control the market.

More than anything, Crowd Energy Is able to create a better electric charging network by combining the rapid adoption and advancement of solar energy and peer to peer systems.

First, we’ve designed the Green Smart Socket to allow solar energy system owners to sell their excess electricity. If you have solar panels installed on your roof, Crowd Energy allows you to maximize your system’s return on investment by lending the extra excitement you produce to EV owners in need.

Here, your home’s renewable energy goes even further, as you can monetize the excess solar energy stored in your system’s battery. Conveniently, Crowd Energy’s network of electricity consumers come to you and plug in their vehicles. All you have to do is continue to let the sunshine in.

Power Your Life, Anywhere

One of the largest issues with current EV charging networks is the limited amount of locations and stations available throughout the world. Even if your local community is filled with remote, electric charging resources, traveling across state borders (or country borders in Europe and Asia) may lead you into an area where stations are either not available or cannot be easily found.

Charging Speeds

Today, most of the readily available EV charging stations are considered “super-chargers,” which means they can “rapidly” power your batteries. Although they provide fast charging speeds, there are actually a few distinct disadvantages to rapid EV chargers. For example:

Fast charging is more destructive to your battery life, generating high energy peaks which requires special and more expensive capacity allocation in power grid networks.
Superchargers are expensive to build, so the number of stations is always going to be limited in terms of location and count.
Superchargers also require a large space so it’s harder to fit them in parking lots and around homes.
And, rapid charges typically require more frequent maintenance, with operation only being provided by specialized companies.

Comparatively, “slow-chargers” actually help eliminate most of these pain points. Slow, ordinary chargers can operate using low power sources, with regular power sockets. This not only makes them much easier and cheaper to install, but this makes it incredibly easy to fit on the property of one’s home or business. Beyond this, slower chargers do not require expensive maintenance, are more gentle on battery life, and can be more easily incorporated into renewable energy sources like home’s PV systems.

We believe that both types of chargers will coexist in the future, but our strategy and main focus is to build a highly penetrated slow-charging network first with fast-supercharging available as an option. Of course, we believe that the majority of people will be satisfied with slow charging both overnight and throughout the day while at work or leisure.

Although Crowd Energy’s network is capable of supporting both fast and slow charging speeds, it is primarily designed to create freedom and consistency for its users. Unless you are on a long-distance highway road trip, most drivers are typically headed to work, a long meal, or even just some shopping.

Here, rapid charging is not always necessary, as your EV is permitted to sit in spaces for long bouts of time, where slow charging speeds are sufficient enough to add extra life to your battery.
